A thousand mornings - Mary Oliver

A thousand mornings
Mary Oliver

I go down to the shore in the morning
and depnding on the hour the waves
are rolling in or moving out, and I say, oh, I am miserable,
what shall -
what should I do? And the sea says
in its lovely voice
excuse me, I have work to do.

You are the one
who has to take
the first step.

You are the one
who has to make
a beginning.

And you have
to take it, and
make it yourself.

No one else helps you.
Not even the vast sea.
It has its own song to sing.

Focus on your song,
and sing
shiv!
